This design extends outside of the typical dimensions of a block without any welding.

This single block design has long been a part of my wedding sculptures catalog.

The key with this design is to make sure that it’s stable and doesn’t become top-heavy. If the design is cut as shown, this shouldn’t be a problem unless your ice isn’t of uniform thickness and perhaps it’s a little thin at the bottom. The thickest and heaviest part of your sculpture should almost always be at the bottom! Sculpture stability is always your highest priority.

That said, this design illustrates an important concept in designing sculptures. A slight tip of the block results in a sculpture wider than the standard twenty inches without doing any welding. It’s important that designs are not limited by the rectangular shape of the block and this is one way to get outside of it without much extra effort.

If you’re not comfortable with snowfill engraving the names into the hearts, they can be left blank.
